Steve was introduced to the Ukulele during a tour of Hawaii in 2013 as part of the Aloha Bluegrass Band and the Aloha Bluegrass Academy. The band teamed up with traditional Hawaiian master musician Keoki Kahumoku to perform throughout Hawaii, and to teach bluegrass and traditional Hawaiian music to children. While there, Steve was able to study Hawaiian music and culture with Keoki, and his father George Kahumoku, Jr. Since then, Steve has been teaching ukulele and leading ukulele jams at 317 Main Community Music Center in Yarmouth, Maine and at Portsmouth Music and Arts Center in Portsmouth, NH. He has also taught and performed ukulele at many music camps and festivals throughout the USA and Canada including Nimblefingers Old Time and Bluegrass Workshops and Festival (British Columbia), Casco Bay Uke Fest (Portland, ME), and Ossippee String Camp (Hiram, ME).
